Radio is still regularly listened to and people like to talk to DJ's. Requesting songs the DJ can play is the tricky part. Though some may be lonely, as many people are.

I still listen to the radio! And maybe people are tired of hearing the radio stations play the same songs over and over so they request something they wanna actually hear.

I listen, and would listen during the request hour if I wanted to hear a song. Mostly though just listen when I'm going to or from work. Now what I don't get are these people that like these national shows so much and write in to the show to get a song played.

They call the station to hear their own voice on the radio! Haven't you ever done that? It sounds really cool. I never called in a song request but I did ask a question on a talk show.

Begging to differ with that opinion. I listen every day. Many songs bring back pleasant memories, some I'd like to share with those that may be far away. Surely your parents made a "dedication request" to one another, sending an "I love you" via the radio. What if the caller was unable to move about all that freely? It would be a means of reaching out to a kindred soul.

Maybe they don't have that CD and want to hear that song or maybe they can't afford the CD and have no choice but to listen to the radio. If no one listened to the radio anymore than their would be no more radio.

Usually they request some top 40 song that the station would have played anyway.

How do you know that people call in to radio stations if you yourself aren't listening ? To know that people call in , you must be listening so therefore by your own admission, you must be lonely....how many requests did you make today....hmmmm?

Plenty of people listen to the radio. If no one listens to it any more then why is Sirius Radio such a success? No one is in business to lose money.
