If you were going to contest a traffic ticket, knowing that people get these dismissed on a technicality, what internet search terms would you use to find either a helpful website, or a lawyer who practices traffic law? Thanks in advance!

actually i have tried to fight a traffice ticket, i lost because i was judged by a judge instead of by a jury, but the key to contest the ticket is to ask for proof. ask to be judged by a jury first off, then when it comes to trial date, ask questions about the validity of the instrument used to catch you speeding (radar) ask if the court can provide proof of when it was last calibrated. ask how the instruement was calibrated, (with a tuning fork?) can they prove the tuning fork used to calibrate the radar was at the correct tone? When i did this, the judge was like "if you wanted to know all this information you should have asked before the court date" and i responded " since when has it been the defenses duty to prepare the prosecution to prosecute the defendant? we are suppose to be living in a country that states we are innocent until proven guilty. I am merely asking for proof that i was speeding at the alleged speed reported by the officer. If he cannot prove this, and cannot prove the accuracy of the instrument used to "clock me" then, I am suppose to be innocent." this is why it is important to be judged by a jury, because my judge said "well, i will believe that this instrument was correctly calibrated, therefore i find you guilty". (by the way this was in a small town, a "kangaroo court" if you will) so get judged by a jury and they will have no choice but to find you innocent due to lack of proof. good luck.

Good luck with that. I tried when I went through a yellow light.
The district attorney told me that they always go with the officers word. And that the five years he had been there only 2 had been dismissed. I ended up paying the ticket. I dont know if you should really waste the time and extra money doing this. But who knows he could of just told me this so I would just pay up and shut up.
Its hard to fight The Man.
Then again I guess that kind of thinking empowers them.
Fight it! Fight it!

did you really commit the traffic infraction that you received the ticket for? If so, do not contest it. Judges see this all the time, where people come in and try to get them dismissed, and many do not like it and will actually make your penalty harsher for wasting the city's time and money.
Now, if you really did not commit the crime and have a valid reason to contest it, look in the phone book under 'attorneys'.

I would look into using pre-paid legal...often times they can get the ticket dismissed all together. Try contacting Primerica Financial Services. they are on the web and in the phonebook..Good luck
