Simple answer, the bible. Seriously, I had an interesting conversation with a friends mother. Of course it didn't go anywhere but I found out something interesting. She mentioned the 10 commandments and mentioned how she had broken all of them in the past, except for killing. I said if you voted for Bush you've killed thousands of people and she said "you can't say that". I asked why and she said that the bible and the good lord say's not to bash/question/make fun of those above you. I said why not, she said, that's what the bible says and I believe in it. Interesting, btw she was born and raised in South Carolina too, and votes Republican.

Well, if God told him to invade Iraq then why should I question him?

If I am a person that believes in God and Jesus Christ that makes me a "Bible Thumper?" What is a Bible thumper?
As far as questioning, the Bible does tell us to question. I see both the Rep. and Dem. parties as failing to do the will of the people of this nation. I see so called lib Dems, pointing the finger at Pres. Bush while your own party is full of people that are a disgrace to this country. As far as the so called progressive lib Dems. , you basically want to drastically change certain important things in this country that the majority don't want.
We as a nation are a Democratic Republic. Do you understand this at all? We are not a socialist/communist country. We as a people don't want socialism, nor communism. You talk about freedom of speech, but want to silence anyone that speaks out against you. When I say you I am referring to the lib progressive Dems. as a whole. You think the world of the ACLU which is a communist organization. You barely fall short of outright support of terrorists and some in your party actually do support terrorists. A state wants to make tougher laws against child preditors and guess what, only the Dem. run states are against it, and guess who comes in to help child molestors, the ACLU. If you don't like a town to have a Christian name, change it. If something offends you in the least, stop it and remove it. But you want to force your views upon the whole nation while you are a very small minority.. Last night I just read a statistical report that said there are more people leaving the Dem party than entering. You turn people off with your forcing your views upon the whole nation. If you don't like this country, go somewhere and start your own. You want to basically be a dictator to us. The nation doesn't want it. The govt. spies on terrorist in another country that is making a call to the U.S. and you want it stopped and do everything you can to help terrorists have their privacy, but yet say the Pres. doesn't do enough. Does any of this sink in. You do everything to undermine the countries health as a nation. Before you go pointing fingers at other people, maybe you should straighten up your own act first. You could just quite be the one that is wrong. Is the Pres. perfect? Not in the least, Is he better than the other options we had? I would say so considering our choices. Gore? Kerry? Dean? You have to be kidding. These charecters are an embarassment to this nation to say the least.
As an Independant I vote for who I think will do the will of the people, not because of being a Dem. or Rep.
By the way, whether you like it or not, this country was founded on basic Christian morals and principles. Most like it this way and have shown it when they vote, but you don't like it so you use the ACLU to undermine the will of the people..
Instead of bashing Bush, bash the child molestors in your party. Bash the terorists in your party. Bash the socialist/communists in your party.
Your crap gets old. Especially teens that have no clue and are just repeating what you hear from other people. That isn't wisdom, it is foolishness. You don't get wise by listening to fools and evil people.
P.S. Something that also amazes me is that a 16 year old acts as if you are all wise and sooooo mature. You have a lot to learn in life before you even come close to being wise and mature. You know nothing but what you are being told and then you parrot what you hear, as most so called lib Dems.
Come back in about 10 years and then fill us with your grand wisdom.

I can't even imagine what religion your friend's mother is. I've read the bible front to cover back in college (which was years ago now) but I do not recall that ever being said. Jesus himself was totally disinterested in the acts of government.

The main flaw in your thinking is this: First of all "though shalt not kill" is a bad English translation. All biblical historians/scholars agree that it means murder, not kill. This is backed up by the fact that God orders the Jews to war soon after the delivery of 10 commandments (that's pretty much the same war going on now). Also, the premise that "if you voted for Bush you've killed thousands" is pretty shakey. If you voted for Clinton you killed thousands too. If you didn't vote, you killed thousands. It's illogical.

Well, I am not "bible thumping" but I am a Christian and in the past I have voted Republican (I also vote Dem too) and I question Bush. It's sad, these people that vote Republican across the board and not give a second thought about what they are really voting for.

I believe in the Bible and I am usually Republican (however I was taught not to vote just because I believed in one certain party, I should vote according to where the candidate stands so I'm not always a die hard Re.) BUT I question the president all the time.
I was also raised to have respect for higher up..........so I question with respect (I did the same thing when Ol'Bill was in the office.)

Isn't it ironic that as governor of Texas, Bush executed more people than in any other state? He is also responsible for over 2000 American military deaths, not to mention over 18,000 wounded. He is also responsible for the deaths of thousands of Afghani's and Iraqi's. Good thing he's a Christian, huh? Just think how many people a secular president Bush could have killed!

That's an easy answer, Bush caters to them. It's pretty scary actually because he's brought a lot of them into the political arena and a lot of the hard line evangelicals would like nothing better than for this to be a Christian nation. And THAT is scary. I'm sure they pick and choose like usual on which Bible quotes best suit their needs.

Bush's hard core base is the extreme right. They have tons of money to pump into issues and campaigns nation wide. They don't question Bush for the most part because he's giving them what they want. But even some of them are beginnig to question his loyalty to their cause. These people are no better for America than the far left, and with any luck America will wake up and smell the coffee before its to late.

Red, I think you have stumbled onto something. The bible is a powerful book, however it has changed throughout the many years since it was written it still holds people captive from cover to cover. Right or wrong you will never convince them that the Bible has lost much of its meaning throughout the years.

There will always be people like that, but how can you say that she killed thousands of people just by voting for Bush? Does that mean you are responsible for millions of babies just because you vote Dem? No. We cannot control what are leaders do. And there are plenty of us who don't like the idea of war and the death of anyone.

They have clearly been brainwashed!People are so in denial. They just don't want to believe that their govt. is working against the greater good in the name of personal interests. It is a different world and no longer altruistic.
