I have a Net gear wireless router 54mbps
D-Link G630 Airplus Wireless Cardbus Adapter
Charter HighSpeed CD-rom
Charter Modem(Ethernet)

So far my computer is showing me that the system has been firewalled and cannot connect. The modem has indicated that transmission is be received but not sent.

I just went through something similar myself, though it was a Linksys router and Comcast modem. But after I turned off the firewall...I basically didn't have to do anything. I just hooked the router up to the modem, then my computer to the router...waited about 60 seconds, and they'd gotten in sync. I unplugged my computer from the router and it was all good.

You may want to go to they Netgear site and see what instructions, FAQ, or troubleshooting tips they have.

turn each thing off which will be using the internet. Unplug the router and the modem. Plug the ethernet wire from the modem into the port marked internet on the router. Wait a minute or 2. Plug the modem in, followed by using the router. enable your modem connect totally and then attempt logging onto the internet on your computing device. Or, make sensible your prompt card and such is lively. If none of that facilitates, attempt contacting the tech help of your internet provider.

Turn off Windows Firewall...it's stupid anyway.
Control Panel-->Windows Firewall
