My right ear has reallly been bothering me I thought it was just wax so I wen to Employee Health today ( I work in a hospital) and told the nurse my symptoms. Especially that I was having a hard time hearing out of it. When she looked at my ears she said it wasn't wax that it was a growth. And if I didn't take care of it soon I wouldn't be able to hear. What are the chaces that I'll have to get surgery.

The chances of surgery are very good.. My son just had surgery for this and he turned out OK.. He had a little bit of bloody drainage after surgery and was on a ear drop for 10 day to keep the ear from getting infected.. His surgery was outpatient and was back to his normal self by the middle of the day no pain at all after surgery.. Don't let this go.. My son's ent doctor told me if I had let my son's ear go it could have turned out to be real nasty and the growth could have turned into something more serious.
Good Luck..

Listen, why ask those that are not medical personnel, like a surgeon or a medical doctor, whether or not surgery is warranted? Go see a doctor who BETTER advise you. Those surgeries are nothing to worry about. Go get it done early and you'll assure yourself of a prompt recovery. Let it get worse and you're chancing complications.

Do you ask waiters for medical advice? Or do you ask bus drivers for medical advice?

What you're afraid of is finding out that it may be something "serous." Hey, if it is "serious" and you get it taken care of on time, you won't have anything worry about because it will be taken care on time but if you let the situation worsen, it's a worse situation to deal with.

It ain't gonna get better by you sitting and moping around and worrying.

Geeze, it might be as simple as a wort! Now, stop worrying and get it done! We get those "growths" as we get older and it's just nothing more than a life process we all go through! OK? Good luck!

My daughter had similar and it was an infection that required special drops. The doctor also used a drill like thing to clean her ear first, she said it didn't hurt. She had that done twice, took about 5 minutes. Then the drops and she's been fine for the last year. No surgery.

It depends on what the growth is. If it's infection based, it may respond to antibiotics. The answer can only be given by a doctor. SEE ONE, AND MAKE IT SOON! It's obviously been growing and will continue to. It could end up damaging you hearing!

I would say that the chances of surgery are good. Instead of asking this question on line, I would like for you to ask your doctor. He is the one with the right answer, go ask him now.
Good lick.
