Largest Animal (sea)

The Blue Whale is the world largest animal. They're also the world's loudest animal. Blue whales' low-frequency pulses are as loud as 188 decibels—louder than a jet engine—and can be detected more than 500 miles away. The heaviest blue whale ever weighed was more than 190 tons, and the longest ever measured was more than 108 feet long.

Largest Animal (land)
African elephants are the heaviest and second tallest land animals. Large bulls (males) weigh more than 13,000 pounds and are 12 feet tall all the shoulder. Giraffes, which can grow to a height of 18 feet, are the tallest land animals. Large males weigh more than 4,000 pounds.

O.K., the blue whale is the world's largest animal.
But the world's largest living organism is the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. It is 2,300 kilometers long and is sustained by living coral polyps.
To anyone concerned about our environment, it is projected that by 2050, 95% of the living coral will be dead because of rising sea temperatures.
Yes, President Bush, there IS global warming.

animal...

i DISAGREE, NOT a blue whale (the largest vertebrate)

a member of the "animal kingdom", might not have a back bone?

so coral reef could be suggested, not however genetically distinct at an individual...

i believe some individual sponges have been found to weigh several hundred tones, and sponges are "animals"

the largest "organism" in the world, is a fungus, Armillaria ostoyae. it grows almost completely unseen underground for 9.8 km!

i vote for the invertebrates...

(some one has to... they are completely spineless after all) ;-)
