My favorites seem to change frequently, but I like the Vonage 'People Do Stupid Things' campaign. They're both entertaining ("Hey, look at what that idiot just did!") and informative ("Paying too much for long distance shouldn't be one of them."). Very smart, IMO.

I think Miller Lite is onto something with the Manlaw campaign, especially making it interactive. But I think Budweiser could totally hijack it with a "Chicklaw" campaign. And THAT would cater to the significant number of female beer drinkers.

There was an amazing Coke ad in 1996 that was originally developed in India for the Cricket World Cup. The first time the commercial was played I was at a party to watch the Cup with a bunch of people, and when the ad came on the room went absolutely silent. It showed a series of Indian scenes-- a distinctive-looking guy in a red turban, red chilli fields, kids playing cricket with a red stove gas cannister as the wicket and a Coke logo painted on the wall behind them. There was always some Coca-Cola red in the image, and beautiful Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan music played in the background. Anyone watching that could not help but be left with the impression that India is cool, cricket is cool, and Coke is cool, and the three things are intimately tied together. The ad made a big impact in the country, and I remember that there were a lot of newspaper articles talking about it.

I later saw the same ad back in the US played during the 1996 Olympics and the Oscar ceremonies. Obviously it didn't have the same impact or meaning in the US, but it was still an amazingly beautiful ad, and the company obviously thought it was powerful enough to show it at these major advertising venues.
