So I was just watching the news and I did not realize that all of those lazy New Orleans people in houston who didn't bother to go look for jobs are cut off now. As of today their rent will no longer be paid for. Did anyone else know this?

I am expecting to see my apartment complex clear out, my apartments are pretty expensive there is no way these people can afford them.

Cliff you are obviously a moron or did not read the entire post. I live in Houston and there are plenty of jobs, you just have to get off your azz and find one.

No Sway, I had not yet heard that, and I didn't really think I lived under a rock, but I guess we learn something new ever day. Thanks for the update :-). There always comes a time in everyones lives when you have to stand on your own two feet. Being hit by a major hurricane is a pretty bad situation and I feel sorry for the loss that they suffered becuase of that, but that still does not mean that they have the right to live off of the rest of us for the rest of their lives. They should have been using that time on something productive for their future. Thanks again for the update.

Two of my clients are in the Houston area... their main concern is the LOW unemployment rate is not only driving salaries up, but they can't get people to take the jobs offered.

My company arranged to pay advertising for our clients who would offer jobs to relocated victims of the hurricane. These clients had two open houses, for one they had to arrange transportation because the "victims" couldn't take public transportation. After no takers on the first set, they had a second. One person was found after spending thousands on advertising and arranging transportation.

The problem is the people chose to buy into the word "victim" and saw themselves as helpless bystanders instead of people who need to adapt to the new reality.

Well, the are from New Orleans, where Nagin waited until 19 hours before the hurricane hit to mandate evacuations. Then he blamed the federal government for his incompetence.

Maybe accepting personal responsibility if a trait of New Orleans; after all they call it The Big Easy. But maybe they're taking things a little too easy.

Actually, the people my daughters knows from down there all have jobs, and even have much of their homes already rebuilt by volunteers. But then, they are Jehovah's Witnesses. Perhaps we need to be asking what the churches are doing to help their own parishioners, but then they didn't even see to it that they were all out, before the storm hit. All the witnesses were in Texas during the storm. Each elder was to make sure that 15-20 members were safe, each overseer was to see to it that the 10-13 elders were doing their jobs, each circuit servant was to see to it that the 10-13 overseers were doing their jobs, and the district servant was to see to it that the 10 circuit servants were doing their jobs. Such organization got things done.

Cliff:

Jobs are easy to come by in Texas. The Employment section of the paper is about 6 pages full. I was born in Detroit, but oddly no one asked.

Guess you have not been in Texas, or you have been listening to the Administration's propaganda. Jobs, even crappy jobs, are hard to come by here in Texas. Especially is you are an outsider and can't trace your family tree back to three generations in Texas.

Yep...I heard about it. I think it's about time. We have been carrying these folks for a very long time. Sympathy only goes so far. There may not be many jobs there, but there are some elsewhere, even if they are temporary.
