when it comes to protecting children I would do whatever it will takes!! Sorry, need more input on your question to go further with this.

Depends on what you are protecting yourself from.....sexual abuse? Find that organization that will relocate you (you will leave everything including extended family behind and get a new identity...like the witness protection program) This group is illegal and will only help those whom the court has not helped (like releasing a pedophile and giving him unsupervised visitation). In other abuse cases you can get a court order of protection. Alarm the house and get a big dog. Your abuser should not be living there....if he is, move. Let him have the house. Divorce him. I'd rather live in a welfare hotel on food stamps than live in that kind of hell. If none of the above apply, learn karate. Self-defense is a great tool for women and deters date rape. Look, I get the feeling your question is more about domestic violence. Is he hurting the kids? Even just watching mommy get beat up is devestating for children. Get out. Leave. I don't know if you are financially dependent but who cares? Many organizations are out there to help. It won't be easy. But it will be safe. God Bless.
