My daugher is almost 7 months old and will take many naps durning the day and sleep at night. She will do this for a few days then go back to just 2-3 naps a day about an hour each. The past 2 months she has been doing this.

Yes, big time! They sleep longer at night, too.

I remember for myself when I was having my big teen growth spurt (5 inches in one Summer) I napped a lot after years of not napping.

My kids also eat more before the sleeping cycles, and they sometimes get clingier with me and even regress a little.

This includes physical growth spurts and developmental spurts (like gross motor skills, fine motor skills and cognitive skills).

Good question!

Yes, all three of mine do sleep more during a growth spurt. they also seem to eat more too (which is what tips me off to a growth spurt and not a looming illness).

a few times my kids have shocked me and slept for nearly 13 1/2 hours at night, and still napped normally.

it is hard to believe but they need all of that sleep. I'm just jealous!

Yes. Its normal! My daughter slept for 13 hours one night and was up for a total of 3 hours during the day. She woke up to take bottles but went right back to sleep.

I think so-their bodies need the energy to grow and most growth takes place during sleep.

Yes, they tend to eat and sleep more often when they are having a growth spurt.

Definitely normal. Enjoy it while it lasts!! My daughter did the same thing and now at 9 month she is afraid she's going to miss something and fights to stay awake.

Yes, sleeping is when your brain grows most and as children get older they will need more and more sleep. Especially in there teenage years.
