i am an occassional vegetarian.

i eat a bite of my filet. and then i become a vegetarian, and i have a bite of my baked potato, and then i become carnivorous again and have another bite of my filet, and then i become a vegetarian again and have a piece of bread. and so it goes

Not a bad idea. Vegetables and fruits are an important source of vitamins, and roughage. It could cure constipation. But it really depends on your age.

Kids should not be a total vegetarian as they need protein to grow their brain and body.

Are you really a friend of your said friend?

Why do want borrowed wisdom on your friend's eating habits?

Let him / her enjoy his / her food if it is not really damaging his / her health.
