Well, you should do some research, look online, and get a book or two, ferrets for dummies is really good. You need to get a quality ferret diet from the petstore, 8-1 Ultimate, Zupreem, etc, with 35-40% protien, and at least 20% fat, cat food is not a completed diet for them. Litterbox train them, and bathe them occaisionally , but not too often, or they will smell stronger. They need at least 4 hours of out-of-the-cage playtime every day. There is a lot more info that you need to know that won't fit here, so here are some links:

www.hugawoozle.com
www.ferretnews.com
www.kistaferret.com
www.pathvalleyfarm.com
www.ferretnook.org
There are many other good sites out there, just do a search. Ferrets are fun and interesting pets with the proper care.

Why would you get a pet you know nothing about? Did you know ferrets have a tendency to be Adrenal and can rack up THOUSANDS of dollars in vet bills? And they need shots every year? And that they need at least 4 hours outside their cage each day?
I really hope you do your research and properly care for them. If you can't afford it, or simply don't have the time you should give them to a rescue. It's not right to have an animal you can't properly care for.

A responsible pet owner or person would have researched and learned aobut a pet before they bought it, to amke sure they know all there is as far as care and requirments as well as what to expect.
Ferretts will pee and poop and can tend to smell bad. They also can get nippy. SOme can be litter box trained but if they are a bit older than theyw ill be much harder to train.
This in one of the biggest resons why shelters and other animal welfare societies are in business, because of irresponible people who have no clue and take on a pet without any prior research or at least reading up, they get frustrated at the smell, care needed or the behavior of the animal and then they become neglectful and end up surrendering the animal or abandoning it. (that is why I am in business too)

The first thing you should do is get them desexed. Male ferrets smell more than female ones. you can get the scent glands removed (highly recommended) ferrets love to have a bath. just fill your bath so your ferret can stand up they will happily swim around. shampoo them once a week. I even used to blow dry mine. you can get ferret harnesses so you can walk or tether them outside for a bit of sunlight. Don't feed them to much cheese they will get the runs. mine liked eating Devon. please do some research on them. they are fun and affectionate little critters.

get a litter box and train them to use it...it will save alot of mess! by training them you want to put there poop in the box, and when they are finished eating or drinking put them in it! and keep being persistant! ferrets are big biters...give them things that they can only chew on, and be very sturn and say no when they bite on something they shouldnt, even try a small flick on the nose of spray bottle. also get them de-smelled...or youll be giving them a bath twice a week because they do not clean themself like a cat does...and just have fun! be careful also, they are ankle-biters!
