why do refuge collectors never put your bins back in the correct place?

Pure laziness. I remember when they used to have to walk all the way to your back door, drag the bin to the truck, empty it, drag it all the way back to your back garden. Now we take the bin out for them, they just have to move it 3ft to the truck to be emptied and then they leave it anywhere but where you expect it to be. Next we'll have to empty it ourselves into the truck. Mind you that wouldnt be such a bad thing, coz the less binmen there are then the better as they are a set of grumpy a**holes.

Hmm, doesn't apply here, we have to leave bagged up refuse by the kerb, so there is no bin to put back.

However, we do have a special recycling-box-bin, and our refuse collectors always put that back in the right place here.

Personally, I suspect this is because we live in a small village, and one of the dustmen lives next door and everyone knows everyone else, so if there was a big mess and stiff in the wrong place we'd all pop round and tell him off! (Nicely, of course.)

Emptying bins is a hard and dirty enough job, why would you expect the collectors to arrange them for you? I think you should be grateful that you don't have that job!

Garbage men _USED_ to that, long, long ago.

We pay about $500 a year for residential (em, cough!) service.
