My husband is stationed in Afganistan and we talk everyday through Skype. All calls are free untill end of year, except international landline calls, but calls to computers are free. Wish we would have found this site 1 year ago, we could have saved thousands on phone bill. Just go to skype.com and download it. I use it for all my longdistance calls.

buy a good headset with built in mic, if you can buy headset that can cover your whole ear the better, for long conversation it keeps your ear from being sore, other use is when listening to music and gaming
you can also buy webcam for video call, invest on a camera with a high pixels, the higher the clearer the image, if your using a laptop check if the camera can be placed on top of the LCD screen, there are cheep webcams that you can find if you walk around. Some digital cameras also can be used as a web cam
Yahoo mesenger has a free video and voice calls, and as a avid user I can say it have good quality for a free call

Try a new system called Jajah, the calls are initiated via their Internet website but the system then calls both peoples phones (land line or mobile) and the call takes place using the two handsets.
No software to download, no need for broadband, no headsets. If you and the person you are calling are both registered users then land line to land line calls are free in most countries.

Use Skype. www.skype.com I have it you can make free PC to PC calls but you have to pay to call on regular phones. Since Skype is the most downloaded software in history chances are the person you want to call has it or is able to download it. You only need like 3 minutes to sign up.

there are some software which provided this option. but we need to buy talk time. some software alow us to make call to PC for free of cost.
i suggest Sky ... is the software which allow this clarty of the call will be very clear.
