Your menstrual cycle starts with the 1st day of proper bleeding (not spotting or tinged mucus) This is called cycle day 1 (or CD1). However if this starts very late on in the day/evening then the next day will be the 1st day.

So, for example...

Spotting starts on July 28th
Proper bleeding starts in the morning on July 30th
CD1 = 30th July
~or~
Spotting starts on July 28th
Proper bleeding starts at 7pm on July 30th
CD1 = 31st July

Not all cycles are 28 days long, for example mine are 32 and my friend's is 25.

If you started actual bleeding on 30th July then today is CD33.

I hope this helps.

Around 28 days from the start date.

The first day of bleeding is called day One. So, its 28 days from then. Not everyone is exactly 28 days though.

You could record your cycles on a calendar for a few months and see how long you take. It could be anywhere from 3 weeks to like, 8 weeks and still be normal.

Your periods should be 28 day apart. So count 28 days from the day that your period ends.

it varies person to person, and cycle to cycle. But you count from the first day of your last cycle. The best thing to do is keep a calendar for a while so you learn how long your cycles usually last.
