The leader of Lebanon says it has lost billions of dollars because of this latest fracas. He also says Lebanon will be the last Arab country to have peace with Israel. The saying goes pride comes before the fall.

I'm not predicting the fall of Lebanon. To hear many in Lebanon -They are proud of Hezbollah and what they have done. But look at what letting Hezbollah run loose has cost them. Lebanon's infrastructure is badly damaged, the economy has taken a extreme hit, many were killed and more wounded.

It was a dumb move on Hezbollah's part to snatch the Israeli soldiers. Hezbollah's leader says he didn't expect that stong a response. But it happened. Hezbollah could have handed the soldiers back within a couple days and avoided much of the damage, but that would be loss of face. Maybe I don't understand the Arab mind set. Was saving face worth that much?

It is not for us to judge the people of Lebanon. Just as our governments do things much of the population does not agree with their government chose to allow Hezbollah to build up and attack Israel. Now they are paying a high price for the bad decisions. The rest of the world must defend the average person in any country that is forced to endure because of government mistakes. If the UN had done their job and disarmed Hezbollah none of that fighting could have happened. Blame the French and other powers that enabled Hezbollah to get the resources to attack.

Now the UN wants to have 15,000 watch the rebuilding of Hezbollah. What a waste. Lebanon lacks the resources to take on Hezbollah but the UN should give them a choice, disarm or leave and go to Syria. Period.

I oppose any kind of war, and frankly, I get a bit tired on what the Israelis do and how they keep on getting away with it.
In my opinion Israel took the land from others and never paid them for it. Israel lives off billions of dollars they get from Germany as restitution for the Holocaust and 3 billions they get annually from the United States each year. The Jews in the U.S. control the wealth and the media and support Israel, it is therefore able to do what it is doing, and personally I do neither like them, nor their idea. There is ALWAYS a peaceful solution if we seek it. They didn't have to start a war over two kidnapped soldiers. They needed a reason. Just because they are Israelis does not automatically give them the right. Other cultures and other religious beliefs do have a right to live according to that, so I do agree with any state in the Middle East now that puts Israel on their hitlist. I am neither a fascist, nor am I communist. It is simply the fact that we cannot preach tolerance toward other cultures and beliefs and then support nations that use any means necessary to run those nations over and dictate what they have to believe in, weather that's Israel or the United States.
Considering the disaster that happened in Lebanon, I really have to ask if it was worth to destroy an entire country over 2 kidnapped soldiers. Just look at the economical disaster of the oil spilling into the Ocean, destroying much more than just beaches, not to talk about all that has to be rebuilt--or all the innocent civilians who died for that. It was not worth it, and if any, Israel made another enemy for themselves with that.

Seeing how much Israel cares right now about the two soldiers,I think that the fact that Hezbollah would have released them wouldn't have made any difference...I think Israel would have said that they don't want things like that to happen again,so they would have to attack Lebanon...
Of course it wasn't worth it...Israel destroyed Lebanon, not Hezbollah. They are stronger now more than ever...And in the end is Hezbollah who gets what it wants...They are going to trade the 2 soldiers for the Lebanese prisoners from Israel...
So in the end the Lebanese and Israel lost, and Hezbollah won...

I think you asked a good Q, but your details were not written from an impartial viewpoint. I hope you fairly evaluate the answers you received. I am more in agreement with anonym's A than I am with any other A. This post is not an answer to the Q asked so it need not be considered for best answer. Watching you pick an A and characterize it will be something I'll be looking at.

I'm glad to see you ask more Q's because you will see it's harder than putting up answers to other people's Q's. Maybe you'll learn something from the experience and become a more objective answerer. TWH 08312006

I guess you would understand if you had to endure Israel oppression, bombing, torture, and colonization for the past 20 years - thats how long Lebanon has had to endure the Israeli babaric attacks.

For other Arab countries, this Israeli oppression is 50 years old.

All the while, the West keeps supporting these illegal attack and keeps propping up the Zionist regime. Is it any wonder the Arabs chose to stand up to these criminal acts? SHouldnt they be proud the Hizbollah stood up to the Israeli terrorists and made them pay a heavy price and forced them out ?

You the Westerner are ignorant of the facts and you lap up all that is fed to you by your pro Jewish media.

Is it any surprise you dont understand?

First you have to find out their real intentions..

Hezbollah wants to create havoc on Israel's side. They want Israel for themselves. In fact they believe the whole world belongs to them. They want to govern the world.

So they want Israel to look like the attackers and the chaos makers.
