call work and see if someone can pick you up! Then might be able to!

If you are fit 8 miles at 15 to 20 minutes per mile is 2 hours. Depending on what time it is in your area, you can get there. If you have a bad neighborhood then call off, but if it is safe, start walking. The exercise will not kill you. Just wear easy shoes - take your change of shoes with you if you can't wear casual shoes at work.

Stash some cash for this type of emergency in the future.

8 miles may seem like a long walk but it can be done. I would be carfeul about calling off. Is there a bus system in your town? Could you walk to a bus stop and take the bus? Look into that if there is time. You may have to transfer but getting to work and keeping a job is imporrtant.

What about the local bus system? Should only be a few bucks. If not, I would call your employer and let them know what is going on. They may think it's not a big deal and tell you not to come in. on the other hand, the may feel the opposite. I would just call and feel them out. If they act like it's a big deal for you to be there, start walking and just tell them you will be a bit late.

How does an adult not have a way? I would use the bus, but if you are flat broke, call around and see if anybody you know can help. I would be honest if you can't make it it. I use to work in HR and I always knew when employees lied to me. It isn't a great reason to miss work but at least you are being truthful. Make sure you apologize and let them know how bad you feel about it and you will try to NOT let this happen again.

Try to call a co-worker or a friend for a ride. It isn't fair that other people are going to have to cover you at work when you aren't really sick. Calling out because you have no ride isn't a good excuse. If the weather is nice enough start huffing it.

I'd walk if it isn't too hot. Eight miles isn't too far if you are fit. It should take you about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. It's good exercise.

you just started a new job at boston market (according to y our other questions) if you don't go to work you probably won't have a job come tomorrow. you need to get to work even if it is late! You should have thought about reliable transportation prior to taking the job!

Ask if any of your neighbours have a bicycle you can borrow, or call your colleagues to see if they can help you out.

Perhaps you should have considered your travel options before you took on the job?
