Damned if I know. I'm Scottish too and have worked in a couple of call centres and I spent my days there getting told either my accent was sexy/lovely or told they could n't understand a word I was saying. Was n't even dealing with anyone further than England and Wales.

Well for most people that do not share your accent it is the novelty and the uniqueness of it.
Humans are attracted to things that do not fit into their average day. Imagine that every day when you left your house there were gray sedans parked up and down the street. Every day it is the same thing. Then one day there is a red sport car. Wouldn't you immediately be drawn to it? Well accents are sort of the same. Every day we are surrounded by voices like our own that we are accustomed to hearing. Then when someone with a new and fresh accent enters our space we immediately pick up on it and are drawn to it.
That's the same reason why they cant understand you, they are not accustomed to interpreting your dialect. I would say just enjoy it. You have a sexy voice.

My husband's from Edinburgh and has almost lost the accent now but I still find it really attractive. I think some scots accents sound very gentle and friendly (not Glasgow, tho,I find that incomprehensible.)

It's because most people, when they encounter a scott, percieve them to be forthright and upstanding in what they believe. This is interesting in that the old saw about them is their penny pinching, or tightness with money. There is a roofing company out there that advertised " Tight Roofs" showing the inset of the traditional scottsman in a kilt, cane, and money bag around his waist. When people like the scottish talk, the genuine character of the scotts comes shining through. We are fornunate to have them on our side!

The fact that it's english that sounds cool.... the rolling r's , the pronounced t's, barely noticable e's, the long o's. My ex boss used to have that accent, I loved it, his words just seemed to flow well.

It just sounds different, especially to Americans. Some American accents are annoying...

It is you! Also the Scots have very likable personalities - at least the ones I have been blessed to come across.

Assuming you're living in a different part of the country/world, any accent sounds charming.
If you're living in Scotland, then you might consider a speech therapist.
