There are only two ways of funding an investment, debt and equity. The vast majority of new ventures are funded via equity. By whom? Pretty much anyone, from high net worth individuals to venture capital funds and private equity funds.

although gas and oil companys and governments have all made gestures towards greener fuels and are throwing some money at the idea essentially it has and always will be funded by us, the consumer as we have no alternative.
