I went to fill my diesel landcruiser last week and picked up the wrong pump.Only after smelling the difference , i realised that i had put 2 litres of petrol in .I then filled the diesel to the top--(about 80 litres)--I have had no troubles with the cruiser, and i have actualy got twice the millage out of it and it is performing perfect.I see no overheating ,and it runs like a dream.I am not putting my foot on the pedal as much and its cruising--Are we getting ripped off with our fuels or what?--dont tell me my cruiser (engine ) is going to blow up----I am now in my second week and i travel 60 klms to work and back -6 days a week.--I have used half a tank, instead of 2 full tanks??--serious answers please,(i am a very good mechanic myself and this has me stumbled)???

Petro cleans your diesel engine
BUT
Don't use to much it will eventually burn out your injectors in a diesel

I use to use this in my Big Rig to help keep the soot from building up and injectors clean..

Two liters of petrol out of 80 is about a 3-percent solution. Obviously, this is not high enough to cause any problems. However, I don't for a moment believe that you are getting twice the mileage out of this tank of fuel... diesel fuel actually contains a bit more energy than gasoline (petrol).

You got lucky by putting in no more than two liters. I do not advise you to try this experiment again.

2 litres through the throttle body would be enough to stop it operating.the idea of stuffing up an engine by friction overheating
is a mute point.to get that to happen you'd have to run on petrol for 30/40 kilometres.it aint gonna happen.you may have a low point in your fuel tank and the pickup is above that.diesel floats on petrol
as for the new economy.have you had the cruiser for long?maybe you've switched to the secondary tank and are just using up that fuel???!!!!!!!

2 liters of petrol may not harm your engine.
Be aware that diesel has a much higher flaming point than petrol. The compression does it all to make the fuel burn.
If you want a new car, go on with the petrol.

ok what is happening is you thinned out the fuel therefore whilst going through the fuel injectors the spray is much finer and your burning less fuel. however diesels aren't made to run that hot and eventually you will do piston damage. try a half a liter per tank and see how that does.
