Isn't hacking from a Windows box lame????

nah, it doesn't matter what platform your are using so long as you can accomplish a successful penetration (on your own system of course).

There are plenty of programs out there that will emulate a non-windows based shell. check out cygwin on google.

using cygwin you can use all your linux apps on a windows machine. plus with perl, lisp, and 80x86 all functional on windows you can do the same stuff as other os's.

downfalls: your machine is closed source, so you can find security holes in your own system without reverse engineering... is this a bad thing, oh i don't know, maybe it'll teach you something, but at least with bsd or linux there is not as many pc illiterates roaming around and security is a little tighter because of it.

it depends on what you like. linux has more powerful tools, but they are text based. windows, tools are usually linux ports that run on cygwin, and have a gui rather then all text. its really a matter of your own opinion.
