No doubt when someone does something bad to me , i would love to pay them back, but today i know by doing that i am only hurting my self , it also affects my self esteem, So i forgive and forget, sometimes the forgetting is a little hard to do, but i continue to try, and i feel good about my choices.

If that person does something bad to the people i love then it is pay back time!!! But i usally forgive and not forget!

I don't look for a "pay back". Forgive but don't forget. In Afrikaans there is a saying "Die blindesambok slaan seer". It means that, that person will get his own someday and it will hurt more than what he has done to you. He/she will be judges.

my first instinct is to hurt someone as much as they have hurt me, but after thinking about it for a while I can usually forgive and forget. This may not mean that I ever speak to that person again, but I generally do not hold resentment, I just choose not to let them have the chance of hurting me again.
