Because it's tradition, and no one forces anyone to bring a present. Most people do it to honor the couple and celebrate their happiness.

Why do you consider it disgrace? It's tradition but also a kind of showing the young couple that you share their happiness and you honour in a way their wish and decision to form a family, Most of us see in it a form of strenghten a relationship and the gift as a token of appreciation, a valuable form of friendship.

Why do you feel bad about it. What do you see wrong, in it. If you do not like it, you need not give any present No body pressurises you. It is for love, for some one, one presents something, whatever is the occasion. For showing love for someone, it need not not be marriage, only. If one feels like, he can present a gift to anybody, he likes.

Don"t u get birthday presentations? Don"t u feel happy about it? Like that in functions we wish them and giving presentations ,just to make them happy and for remembering us. At the sametime some of our gifts will be very useful to the couple, who will be going to start their own life,

If you feel this way then don't give a gift to the new couple. Not everyone feels that way.
