Well, there really is no mystical explanation, the changing of ones name, especially in someone with a gullible mind, has a profound effect in the psyche of and individual. With children, if you are serious enough, will receive the name change with enthusiasm. The character is changed, the child is curious and is now thinking about who he/she is. The changing of the childs name is simply a new thing in the world and it just wants to understand. Now with kids who dont understand that his/her name is changed, any change is just coincidental.

I've never heard such nonsense. If you read the horoscope section of the paper and pick any sign you want (not just yours) you can see that they are so generic they will apply to anyone. If the child is crying a lot I would look for a real, underlying reason. It maybe colic which will go away on it's own. It may be that they're allergic to the formula they're being fed. If that's the case, changing the formula will stop much of the crying. In the case of older children, all kids cry. Instead of changing the child's name, offer comfort and support.

Simple answer - it doesn't.

Here's an idea: try confronting the problem (i.e. the child's behavior) with different strategies. Read up on it, there are plenty of good books out there written by experts in the field.

Yet another example of foolish star gazers and dreamers pushing pseudoscience. And we call ourselves an advanced society...

Unless you named your kid something totally funky I don't think changing his/her name is going to make a difference.

its probably a reverse psychological trick, or something of that nature. no one is to say if really works or not, but its a very intriguing idea.
