Turn on the computer, open the CD tray and put the Windows CD in it, close the door to the CD tray, restart the computer, follow the promts to install Windows. When you are presented with the option to delete a partition - go ahead - all will be lost but that's ok if you don't want it - you can then recreate a partition and format it. Go ahead and do the full format so you can take a break. The install will run after the format is complete. You will then be asked a few questions - if in doubt accept the defaults.

You can't go wrong with defaults, you can change it later. Good luck and have fun

If you are trying to kill Professional from Home it generally will not work as Home is under Professional in the Microsoft Hierarchy of programs as Professional is under Windows Vista and Windows Server 2003. All of this means there are certain programs you can upgrade from to others but not back again.

The only good way to do this from Home is if has Service Pack 2 and professional has not been updated to SP2. Then Home will let you install and you can tell it you want to do a custom install and tell it where to install too. This way you can select Format the partition that has Windows if that is the option you want, or select delete partition and create another one, making sure that Pro truly is gone.

If all of this will not work due to Professional having SP2 or Home not having it either, then you will have to delete Professional by the same means explained above. By installing with the Professional disk, and following the on-screen prompts as above, the main difference is after you have deleted the partition, reboot with the Home disk you want to load in the CD drive.

Hope this helps.

Having a partitioned troublesome stress ("chop up in 2") is actual suggested with great troublesome drives - more beneficial valuable use of area. The troublesome stress is 'disk/cupboard area' not 'memory'. If domicile windows XP domicile is on the C: stress and XP professional is on the D: stress, then in basic terms boot into XP domicile and reformat the D: partition. Use the recent D: partition as an information stress and the C: partition because the gadget (OS) stress. this kind once you ought to reinstall the OS, your information archives is in basic terms not affected.

Boot up your computer with your XP CD

Tap a button on your keyboard when it says boot cd?.....

When you are about to install, you should see your partitions, select your windows partition and look for the option to delete it, then it should become unallocated space, format that space to say NTFS and install windows!

put the xp-home cd in your tray.. Reboot, make shure to boot from cd-rom.. It will check for old versions. I usually choose to delete the c partition. Then choose to make a new partition, and install..

Make shure to backup all your documents etc.. The C drive will be totaly blanked!!

Honestly, if you don't know how to do that, I recommend you don't do a Windows Home installation yourself. It's not just a program that "installs itself;" it needs some judgment on your part and if you do the wrong thing, you will be left with a paperweight instead of a computer.

Pay some kid to do it, you'll be fine.
