I would say curb appeal.. that's what they first see. Then inside the home, you want to allow as much natural light in as possible. If your home is already on the market, or if you are wanting to sell it.. remove as much clutter from the house, and clothes from the closets to make it look bigger (put them in storage). Painting your home with neutral colors is a plus. Then I would say, without putting too much money into it.. new faucets can really dress up bathrooms and kitchen appearance.. and newer light fixtures. These are a few inexpensive ways to make your home more valuable to buyers. Good luck!!

fix and maintain everything so that it doesnt end up with lots of small problems that add up to a big drop in value. ask a realtor what sort of remodeling is the kind that actually can pay off if you sell your home, kitchens, bathrooms, additions, sunporches, ..each one either adds to the resale value or could just be money you spend for your own use.
the biggest value driver for real estate seems to be "location'.......and not much you can do if there is an ugly road construction project or some new runway at the airport that will send planes over your house every 10 minutes....but within your control is the maintenance and upkeep of your home .

Depends on how much money you've got to spend. It is important to give a good first impression to buyers by embellishing the front room. Make sure your front door is up to scratch, tidy up all the house and remove clutter. A lick of fresh paint will do wonders but stick to neutral paints - buyers want to be able to imagine how they could make the house their own. If you have too many family pictures in the house, remove some - buyers don't want to feel like they're intruding in someone's home. Make sure your house smells fresh and homely - some experts even advise sellers to bake a cake on viewing days. If you have bedrooms that are used for storage of junk, declutter the rooms and make sure the buyers know their purpose as bedrooms - more bedrooms = higher value of property. Also, kitchens are known to clinch better deals - make sure your kitchen is up to scratch. Good luck!

The best way to add value is to build up the "sweat" equity by doing things that are relatively inexpensive but make your home more attractive. Painting is paramount... having everything looking sharp and clean will also help sell your home faster. A new roof isn't such a great idea unless you just have to... it's hard to recoup those big dollars. Landscaping is also key... and have a plan drawn up professionally... you can install it yourself, but too many do-it-yourselfers think they know how to landscape... most just don't... have the wrong flowers or trees or rock or mulch.
