I know there is a tool box somewhere that lists all the prgrams that load when Windows boots up..but I can't find it!! It has boxes with check marks.

start->run-> type msconfig

1. Select start->programs->startup and check whether there is any program entry. If you don't want that existing program there startup while windows boots up Right-Click on that program and delete it (Plz be careful while doing deletion).

2. Select Start->Run and enter MSCONFIG and press enter key you will get a dialog box on the extreme right hand side there is a tab called Startup click on it you can view lots of program entries with check boxes on its left side uncheck all the program which you don't want to start while windows booting time.

3. You can download any startup controller using which you can control your startup list very simply. The following is a small and effective program using which you can edit your windows startup program list very simply (Nowadays most of the programs makes the updations in windows registry which is somewhat difficult to edit so you can use this tool to display all the startup entries the programs make)

Go to Start -> Run then type msconfig. Click the startup tab and untick things that you don't want to start up. Obviously, make sure you know what each program is before deactivating.

If you have XP, click on start>run>type msconfig
Then you can do startup on one of the tabs. Becareful not to shut off thins that are needed to make your computer run properly!

Go to Run and type msconfig in it.
then go to startup tab
and add or remove the desired program you wish to run at startup

start>run> type "msconfig">start items tab>select what you want to run when your computer turns on, or start>all programs>startup>delete what you don't want to run in startup.
