you could say the same about metal, movies etc, just seems that everyone needs a reason when usually its just the individual person

Guns don't kill people. People kill people.

Hell, that might be a cliche, but it's about as honest to the core as you can get. Folk will hurt folk no matter what... some of them just need something to blame it on is all.

But it's the self-righteous 'others' who worry me the most: those who fail to acknowledge that we're all ultimately responsible for our own actions, and instead blame a violent mentality on anything other than the perpatrator.

It wasn't me! They made me do it!

b/c rap music is predominantly black artists, it's easy to say that the music (movies, too) perpetuates violence. nobody says anything about the terminator movies or pulp fiction being violent. it's a racial issue that'll probably never go away. it's just something we as a people have to deal with. not all rap deals with guns and violence. even if it did, don't you have a mind of your own? do you have to act out everything you hear or read? i'm so sick of people saying that rap glorifies violence and that's why kids are killing kids. i listen to all types of music, gangsta rap included, and i've NEVER killed anyone. i've never so much as been in a fight. i am my own person and i can think for myself. don't blame rap. don't blame any music, movie or any other medium. if we as society weren't so quick to place the blame elsewhere, maybe this country wouldn't be in such bad shape. waddya think?

I get violent when I hear either Dido, Jamiroqui, Sade, Cliff Richard or Chris Rea. These people are an insult to music and make me want to disembowel them with a bit of plastic infected with wet leprosy. Never mind gangsta rap, anodyne cr*p is what makes me murderous. The birdie song is better than them.

most "metal" or hard rock music doesn't have lyrics about going around shooting people.. and
i'm not sure
rap music seems angry and violent to me..
just seems like the lyrics are about shooting.. and stealing.. and
not all.. but a good majority

I know that they say that about video games... probably because some rap has lyrics about them killing people and a lot of young teenagers listen to it.

Hmmmm I wonder...do the names Tupac, Biggie Smalls. etc mean anything to you? Gansta Rap, apart from being total shite, glorifies violence, drug dealing and even rape! Nice.

Advertising proves that media can influence behaviour. I don't know why they especially blame rap music though - other things are just as violent.
