Ford does limit recalls and I do not know what kind of sweetheart deal they made with the consumer product safety people. Nissan recalls last the lifetime of the car and we are still replacing injectors on 1985 maximas. I guess that says a lot about customer care and safety. And Ford thinks after 100,000 miles the car does not need recalls?

That pretty much depends on when you bought the car, who you bought the car form.

If you bought the car used from a dealer less than three years ago, you may be able to negotiate a deal with the dealer.

The dealer should have been aware of the issue beforehand.

"The squeeky wheel gets the grease" don't just ask nicely, demand it!

However, if you bought it new, or more than 5 years ago..you're out of luck.

sure you can order up and buy a new one. But why would you want to just get rid of it and get something worth having.
