No, because a pathological liar would never admit to being one.

I think you'd have to believe him (assuming it's not a joke). If he is not a liar, or jokester, then he is telling the truth about being a liar. He can not be telling a lie about being a liar becuase it would have to be true (two negatives equal a positive where as one of each equals negative).

So, we've deducted that he IS in fact a liar (or jokester). Assuming this is a truthful statement, then I would say that the way to look at it is similar to the way an alcoholic would declare him or herself an alcoholic. He knows he has a problem, it is something that he lives with everyday, but he is aware of it. He is trying to overcome it, and by telling others, he is helping himself do just that.

---I know that this was a joke question meant for a quick funny answer, but I am a pathological typist... : )

Even paranoids have enemies; and even pathological liars will on occasion tell the truth. Their inconsistency is what makes a pathological liar so impossible to deal with--you simply never know whether or not you're getting the truth. So how do I resolve the dilemma posed by your question?

In our everyday lives we assign a level of credibility to another based on our past experience with that person. If someone with whom I have no prior experience tells me they are a pathological liar, I have no basis upon which to evaluate the credibility of their statement. Since I cannot rely on their word, alone, I suspend judgment until evidence suggests the truth, one way or the other.

Noway...If he is a pathological liar, then he wouldn't know the truth if it bit him on the backside. Besides, he said he is a pathological liar, not a psychiatrist.
