I spent almost 10 years in Nottingham and left in 1991 and I absolutely LOVED it! It's always had bad press re crime levels but I can't say it ever affected me and the city centre felt really safe because (even at 4 am!) there were always loads of people around. Obviously it depends where you're going to live as some areas are better than others - Forest Fields and Hyson Green used to be pretty rough.

What I really liked about Nottingham though is the amazing diversity in just about everything: culture, countryside, shopping, food, loads of stuff to do and some really cool stuff happening. I still go back regularly to see friends and it doesn't seem to have changed much.

Enjoy!

The page below describes Nottingham from the point of view of taking a city break, nevertheless it gives a general overview of what the city has to offer for anyone planning to move there.

It describes just about all Nottingham's facilities including shopping, nightlife and sports opportunities.
