Ok, it's the same difference that runs between pyjamas and pajamas---- the former is the British English spelling, the latter American English.
So you would spell it g-r-e-y if you were from the UK or Canada, Australia.....etc, and g-r-a-y if you were American.

The Oxford Dictionary gives both grey and gray as correct. I use grey when I refer to color and gray when I refer to a situation like mood or personality or even something which is unclear or murky or shady - like when you say - it falls in the gray area. Does this explanation look 'nice'?

According to Merriam Webster's Collegiate Dictionary, grey is a variation of gray. I just looked. :)

Technically it can be spelled either way. I say it is GRAY. I think it looks horriable when someone spells it as grey but that is just me.

Technically, it could be either. In England, it's typically G-R-E-Y, and in America, most spell-checkers and sticklers for the dialect will insist upon G-R-A-Y. I happen to think that the word looks better with an "e", but to please Microsoft Word and my composition teacher, I use the "a".
