holding the clutch for any extended period of time will diminish the life of the clutch.
If you put the bike in neutral going downhill you will save on gas mileage,, but it could be very dangerous.

No. The bike will use the same ammount of fuel if the throttle is released (idle) wether the clutch is engaged or not. But in an situation where you needed to engage the clutch in a hurry it could cause you to loose control. You will not hurt anything nor will you gain anything by doing this. Overall it is just a bad idea.

Whether in neutral or holding the clutch or in highest gear going down hill is very dangerous as you don't have full control of your vehicle, should engaged in low gear like second or third for safety reason, life is much more important than whatever mileage !
