You can't get rid of a cold you can only treat the symptoms, the cold will go in it's own time. A cold is a virus and will work it's way through your system in it's own time. I find Lemsip Max works at alleviating the symptoms for me. But whatever you decide to take make sure you read the label as you want a non drowsy medicine or your big night out will be lost. Get better soon.

This question has prompted many kind-hearted people to offer remedies to get rid of a cold. Sadly there is no cure for the common cold. What I find helps, especially if you have an important event coming up, is to take paracetamol. It eases the symptoms, but the virus will take its course.

what i usually do for a bad cold is brew up some echinachea (sp?) tea and drink about 2-3 cups of that and get a good nights sleep. Echinachea helps your immune system and it usually works for me. It wouldn't hurt to also take some common medicine along with it :) Get better soon :)

Drink more Luke warm water all the time. Apply Vick's Vaporous around your neck, chest and nose. Then take more rest. Waiting for your big night tomorrow and enjoy!

Nothing speeds the end of a cold but you can drug yourself up to feel better. Massive amounts of liquor applied liberally to the pie hole generally will make the cold seem like a distant memory.

Eat lots of garlic and chilli so you sweat loads. Then have lots of vitamin C, loads of cups of tea and a good night sleeping. For a sore throat gargle soluble paracetamol, to clear your nose (if the chilli didn't work) use olbas oil. That's great.

Well, I used to drink a lot of orange juice whenever I caught a cold and it always seemed to help it to go away faster. Whether it was the power of suggestion, I don't know...

If you have the energy and not worn down, a good work out, like one on one basketball, and if possible a dip and soak in the ocean will sometimes work.

Gargle with Salt water
If you gargle with warm water with a decent amount of salt sprinkled in it, it's supposed to clear the congestion in your lungs and off your chest, my nan swore by it. Make sure to use boiled water and let it cool to warm.
