Can't cancel an AOL free trial that came with my new notebook. I have called, faxed, emailed and yet nothing. I know they just paid a large sum of money in a law suit they lost for not allowing customers the right to cancel.
Just lloking for a way to cancel my subscription.

If you have a subscription, you can go under Membership and go through the cancellation process. If you just want it off your computer, then click your computer's Start Button, go to your Settings, and select the Add/Remove Programs option. From there, find AOL and click on it. The button the button to Remove it will be highlighted. Follow the prompts and it will help you uninstall it.

AOL is now free, it's been all over the news:

7. When Can I Get AOL for Free?

If you already have an alternative way to connect to the Internet, either by dial-up or broadband, you can move to the free AOL plan and continue to access your AOL e-mail, software and security features. To change your current AOL plan, simply call Member Services at 1-800-984-6207 and select the Billing Option when prompted.

I'd personally go that route, and then when you have it for free, you have the option whether to keep using it, or completely delete the program from your computer.

Good luck!

If you gave them a credit card number then inform the card service that you dont want aol putting a charge on it! Uninstall the software in add remove programs! If they nag you about money, tell them you are contacting a lawyer and that you are recording their voice!

Good luck is my only hope for you. Give DR.HOUSE the vote if his answer works. Or what ever solution you find that works.

This was only one of the reasons I hated and did NOT recomment AOL to anyone. They fill our landfills with there SPAM Disks. They offer (free) trial and HOOK YOU forever. That and the fact AOL/AIM contain spyware!!!

I now have proof AOL/AIM contains Spyware!!! To thoes that have and use AOL/AIM please read the following article.

Its now more than just rumer its OFFICIAL,,,,, AOL is SPYWARE!!!!
Read the article in eweek online magazine.
