I was just wondering if the best way to forge ahead with medical advancement would to to test/ experiement on live human samples as opposed to worrying about medical 'ethics'. Whilst I know this is morally wrong I was watching a program about Mengele last night and I was wondering if the same approach might work these days, if the scientists were particularly detached and took on a 'it's for the good of all mankind' attitude.

Would this be the best way for the advancement of medical science, disregarding ethics?

Thanks!

I THINK THAT YOU ARE WILLING TO DONATE YOURSELF FOR ADVANCEMENT OF MEDICAL SCIENCE

The problem is that allopathic drugs are toxic in content and the full range of effects they produce on human beings cannot be truly assesed even if the active principle of a medicinal agent and its toxic effects are known before hand. Therapeutic provings of drugs therefore is a long drawn process and a scientist , even if obsessed with the good of mankind , cannot readily offer himself or his family members to take the lead as the first ones in the process of proving before trying on others. Life is the primary principle which has to be defended before health can be restored by combating a disease with the help of drug force. To this end human consideration and ethics should be given primary importance before deciding what is good to others.

We need to recognize that there are a LOT of health problems in this world, and if we're going to solve those problems, we need to keep our minds as scientifically open as possible. Consider the issue of cloning, for example. Ever since the concept was thought up of decades ago, the most practical upshot of cloning was to make duplicate internal organs of the old and sickly to keep them living. Back when this interesting thought was first devised, it was believed that only complete organisms could be cloned, so killing your clone so that you could live would be considered immoral and unethical. NOW, however, we've reached a stage in cloning technique to the point where we can actually grow vital organs from scratch without the unnecessary burden of killing anything. Being mature and exploring the unknown is the only way of making progress.

But of course we don't want to become so advanced in medical science to make people IMMORTAL. People, like all life forms, NEED to be allowed to die.

What Mengele did was apallingly vile and sadistic - you are suggesting we should adopt the same approach to advance medical science? I would suggest you need sectioning (if not dissecting)
