Figure this one out: when about would it start turning counterclockwise? Would it just gradually slow down and stop turning completely when it passes the equator, then accelarate counterclockwise when it reaches in the southern emisphere?
Come on!
I'm sure you can figure that one out!
P"S" it has nothing to do with the earth's magnetic feild, people who claim it has, dont know the first thing about the physics of electricity!

This is NOT true. For decades students and non-students have been told this, and have spread this.
But the fact is that the force supposedly responsible for the effect, the Coriolis force, is way to weak, in this example, to have a measurable effect. What will count will be the shape of the basin.
Does this help?

it doesn't
it depends entirely on the shape of the gutter and initial motion in the water
the urban myth is propgated by people who haven't the faintest clue about physics

i research about this & this is not true this is only an "urban legend" earth axis is not powerful enough to coz the water to spin in a different way so how then water's spin is determined it is detrermined by the shape of the basin.
