First of all I think the BBC should be commended for managing to actually broadcast a programme concerning black people at a sensible hour of an evening when most people (black or otherwise and differing age ranges), can watch it.

Secondly, with all problems whether it be with people or things, they have to be identified, recognised and then dealt with. In our particular case (black people), we have MAJOR problems and issues with ourselves right now not only in this country but in America too and in fact, anywhere where there is a black and white mix frankly so its global. As there are so many glaringly obvious issues within our own community I think its high time for some sort of postive action rather than just talking, talking, talking. I really don't know where to begin to tackle these issues as there are so many - I only wish I did. Perhaps we need assistance to deal with our own problems by looking into or gaining help from other successful ethnic groups.

Its a sad fact of life that things are the way they are with black people and what screams at me from the show was:-

1. No role model/s (particularly outside of sports), the likes of MLK and Malcom X, Marcus Garvey and so on
2. Low self esteem
3. Lack of respect for either ourselves or even our families and our own peers
4. As far as education in this country is concerned, one of the biggest misktakes I think this country has made was to waterdown school discipline to virtually nothing at all and I'm sorry to have say this but although there are some unruly white kids, I believe the black ones are even worse for we are easily led, which brings me to my next point -
5. Being easily led by negativity
6. No unity equalling no strength

A lot of us seem to be forgetting that we are an oppressed race and have been since time began. We have always been seen as 'the lowest of the low' even lower than the poor people themselves, purely because of the colour of our skins. We all know who our oppressors are and unfortunately we are doing everything within our own power to prove them right. When will we ever learn?!
