Anything from 10 days to 3 weeks & beyond.
Customs their end will want 2 check it, Customs our end will want 2 check it 2.
I'm awaiting a packet & it's been over 2 weeks already.

air mail or surface, air should be about a week, although, for some reason, they do get delayed and can take up to a month. It also depends whether customs take an interest and further delay it. Surface will take 2 -3 weeks at least.

Either 5-7 days or NEVER, depending on the Royal Mail's mood. My parents live in the US and I've had 2 birthday cards never arrive (one with cash in!) and one box of Christmas presents go AWOL for almost a year because of some customs-related thing that we never had fully explained to us.
So it is always worth paying extra to insure it and put a tracker on it.

I've shipped packages air mail to the UK from Chicago and they've arrived within 4-6 days on average. Air mail is fairly inexpensive as well.

It usually takes about 5 to 7 business days because the package has to go through customs.
