Also on which color wall suits best with a painting on it?

For example a red rose painting on a light blue wall...etc.

Alabaster!
Just kidding, off-white for walls.
White for ceilings.

And I think as far as complimentary colors go, black and white are always nice, like a bw painting on red wall, I like orange or green on white walls as well.

I normally see vanilla used. Any painting would look fabulous in it.
