Mr Stanley (you know, Stanley Steamer) used water in his engines years ago.

The problem is, water will not ignite. There is no way for it to ignite. It can't be used as a fuel for an internal combustion engine.

hi im a hd diesel mechanic 4 about last 10 years any ways we tryed a system that introduces small amounts of water though the fuel system in order to save fuel and yes it worked but the draw backs werent worth the saveings we found that on the 5 test units all new at the start of test dident last as long as on reg fuel the inside of the engine was found to have rusted and the vavles burnt out pre mature also we found it ok in the summer but in the winter he in canada our units keep freezing up so we had to remove them u would get about 1 mile per gal better milage withour semi trucks pulling loads but the engine is worth over 10,000 to rebulid so the fuel u saved cost u about 5000 when sayed and done ur engine only lasted hafe as long hope this helps
