My friend I fought, my parents dont like her, she is my bestfriend. In anger I told them about it and she said a few things to them in anger due to their behaviour(going on since 2 yrs now) on my request my parents are sending me to UK for further studies. My friend called and said how she missed me and she was sorry (she even cried),but my mom said dont bother, we even met once, she wants to come to the airport to see me. I want her in my life butmy parents cant understand why would their daughter want to be friends with her. I will have to go against them and though I want friend, who happens to be like my sister, her brother is my brother (through rakhi). My question is, how do i break it to them, that we are in touch and want to remain freinds? They are going to be upset?, at the sametime my friend feels betrayed by me, cause I say she is my bestfriend but dont take a stand for her.

I am 27yrs old and my friend feels betrayed if I tell them. We are just friends, so its weird all this hiding. Its not even my boyfriend we are talking about here, just a female friend.

well my friend came to the port and my parents are now calling me a liar, etc. Also, things went wrong on the trip, delays, lost baggage and so its because of my friends presence.. i snapped at that.. and they went even mad.. have u heard anything funnier.

Dont tell your parents till you are like 18 and then tell em and then they cant do anything to you for seeing her

If you want her in your life then you should keep her in your life. It sounds like your parents don't have a very legitimate reason for not liking her except for personality clash or something. You shouldn't have to keep it secret. Your parents might disapprove of you being friends with her but they can't exactly control your life like that and if she's not leading you into wrong crowds or anything bad like that then they should be happy you have such a good friend who obviously cares about you a lot.
My policy is that you don't have to keep your friendship a secret but you don't have to tell your parents everything you do with her either. If they ask you then tell the truth but if they don't then don't bring it up.

At 27, you are in charge of your life. Tell your parents if you like but don't allow them to change your decision about keeping your friend

i don't know how old you are but at some point in your life you need to take a stand with your parents. im not saying run away. but they cant control your mind only your body..its ok to tell you parents how you feel. just tell them you are not going to make any bad deciosions. they should respect you for speaking your mind in a calm and adult way.

tell them ur story and politely explain ur side.
just tell them to listen first then after u finish ask them for their opinion.
then tell them yours and reason out why.
explain the worth of your friendship and how it means to you. tell them also as their child, u want them to at least respect ur decisions in life and allow u to be happy.
their not the ones that is making friends here u know...

Well, ur parents can't pick ur friends 4u. Since they raised u,they should trust ur judgement and choice of friends.

tell them that she said she was sorry, and tell them that she cried in the phone, and wanted to see u in tha airport,.............. etc. dont be afraid.
