I had just woken up with a mammoth hangover and was drinking coffee when I put the tv on and saw the news reports.

I rang my mum to tell her and she didn't believe me either.

I was in the bathroom washing some clothes and as I walked past the bedroom I saw there was a news flash, I hesitated to see and saw Paris, and thought oh well it's nothing here, when I heard those blood curdling word, "It is official, Princess Diana has died" (My hairs stand up on end, just writing this) I dropped the washing in my hands and literally stayed glued to the TV all day long. I think I cried the most when I saw her coffin with the envelope on the top addressed to "Mummy". God rest her dear soul.

Yes same here, without the hangover! Don't normally have TV on, but sisters boyfriend staying over, and he had it on, I was sitting having breakfast on a Sunday, still remember the total shock and disbelief, as first it was a serious accident, then it changed to her being dead. Then headed for carriage drive in Windsor Great Park, was the main topic of conversation amongst the horseboxes. Came home and watched the home coming etc in the afternoon. Remember similar feeling with the Twin Towers, definitely both were surreal, but at least can understand when people say they remember where they were when JFK or Buddy Holly died. A real shame about Princess Di, but about time they just left her in peace, it must be awful for the boys to constantly see stories about their Mum.

I was asleep, and I was having a dream about being in a record shop with my cousin's kids. I even remember the song in my dream - 'Made of Stone' by The Stone Roses. The funny thing is that some of the lyrics pertain to someone dying in a car accident. Then my dad woke me up (just opening my bedroom door does that) and said that Princess Diana had died in a car accident. I thought he was joking at first, so I rushed upstairs to see. After I had my bath I sat in front of the TV in my towelling robe, like a zombie, just watching the news.

The funny thing was, my mum remembers having an even more relevant dream. She remembers that in the dream she was running down a corridor in a foreign hospital in theatre scrubs, knowing that she had to save the life of someone famous. She woke up suddenly at about 3am, local time, which was more or less the time the news was reported. She didn't think much of it and went back to sleep.

I don't think I've ever watched less TV in the week that followed... -_-

When I went back to school a couple of weeks later (I must have been fourteen at the time) there were the obligatory sick jokes about Diana. Someone amended a question in a maths book referring to a faulty speedometer owned, funnily enough by a fictional character called 'Diana'. My best friend pointed out that DIANA stood for 'Died In A Nasty Accident', and somebody else pointed out that an anagram of 'Lady Diana Spencer' is, most unfortunately: 'Sad end in a car. Yelp!'

We had been out to celebrate my Mum's 60th for a big meal.

We sat chatting in the early hours and the news came on TV. At the time they were saying that she had head injuries and lacerations to her leg, no indication about the severity of it.

The next morning, we woke up and the rest is history.

I'll never forget the image of the underpass with the flashing yellow light though...

Was out of town for a wedding and had just got back to the hotel room after the wedding. We put on the TV and heard "its confirmed Princess Diana has died." Was like a dream. Took a few days for it to really sink in and realize it was real.

I was in bed, my son aged 14yrs at about 7.15am came upstairs and said mum mum Lady Diana is dead, i said what! don't be stupid, he said mum she is dead, i couldn't believe it, so i went downstairs, turned to all the channels and i said where is it i can't see anything, if she is dead it would be all over the channels, then i went onto teletext and there i saw it, my heart was in my mouth, i felt a chill going down my spine, i felt all of a sudden everythink went dark, i was glued to the tv all day, wanted to know, how and when and why. On the day of her funeral i cried like a baby especially after her brothers speech, it broke my heart, may her soul rest in peace

I put the TV on to watch my usual programmes & the news was on, which I thought was strange, and then the headlines was scrawling along the bottom of the screen.

I woke my hubby up to tell him & he wasn't impressed. He was annoyed that I woke him up so early.

We're not in the least bit a fan of the royal family, but it was sad to hear that the kids lost their mum so young & in odd circumstances.

I was watching videos with my husband. We had rented two, and after the first one the news came on, it was Peter Mansbridge from CBC saying she had been in an accident.
Then we watched the next movie, and then Peter Mansbridge was all shocked, having found out that the accident had been much worse than they originally thought. I don't remember if we kept watching until we heard she was dead or only found out the next morning.

I remember everything.
I had just got up and turned on the TV.
My mate had taken the spare room, and when I turned around, he was at the top of the stairs staring in silence at the TV.

Later that evening I was down the Pub, and a fight started because someone said Diana wasn't as good as she made out. I stopped it and said everyone should deal with it in their own way.
The bloke who had said it, well, he just started crying.

Yes - woke up in a bedroom with about 14 other people sprawled over the floor and bed... we went downstairs and watched the news... all a bit dazed and confused...

Called a friend of mine (who's a Paparazzi) and the conspiracy rumours had already started (within 5 hours of her death)...
