I am a hardcore game and have been since 1985....if you play the high end PC games like I do, you will be sorely let down by the X Box and even XBox 360. These and other consoles are marketed more towards a younger audience who aren't looking for the graphix splendor and depth of gameplay that PC games offer. Although the graphix on the 360 may look great now...the PC graphix are moving upward @ such a fast pace, they are already outdoing the consoles. The games themselves I have always found to be shallow eye candy. (This comes from someone who plays Oblivion, Fear, Heroes 5, and Far Cry among others). The AI, visual beauty, and depth of storyline in these goes beyond what is normally offered on a console. Yes, I know that things like Oblivion are offered for the 360 but why shell out the cash for a console if you are only going to buy that one game?

The Xbox 360 GPU has more processing power than the PS3's. In addition, its innovated features contribute to overall rendering performance.

Xbox 360 has 278.4 GB/s of memory system bandwidth. The PS3 has less than one-fifth of Xbox 360's (48 GB/s) of total memory system bandwidth.

Xbox 360 games—by leveraging cutting-edge hardware, software, and services—will outperform the PlayStation 3.

Yes, it's worth it. It is an amazing device...it does so much more than just computer games...but if this is your only interest, I did an informal survey...and most of my PS2 friends have switched...so it should tell you something. It is less expensive than the PS3, and you get a lot of bang for your buck.
