It appears colourless but they say it's light green Actually, if you hold a wet blotting paper to Chlorine gas you can see it turning to a light greenish colour.

Cl2 in its ionic form is color less where as in the form of a molecule it is yellowish green
Cl(-1 o.s) ----------- NaCl ------------ colorless
Cl2(0 o.s) ---------- chlorine gas - yellowish green vapours
