O Fortuna by Karl Orff perhaps? It is the music most commonly associated with The Omen films.

O Fortuna by Carl something is probably the song you are thinking of. It has a very erie tone to it. The song starts very softly and builds up to the climax with a noticable volume increase. The son was written in the 13th or 15th century during the plauge years and is about the plauge. I have a copy of the latin and English translation of the lyrics around somewhere or you can probably find them on the net pretty easily today.
I've heard O'Fortuna in a dozen movies. The first I noticed it in was actually Excalibur back in the early 80s. The lyrics of the chant were changed for that movie but the music was exactly the same.

Theres some cds I have all of gregorian chant. The 2 I have are by the Benedictine Monks Of Santo Domingo and the cds are titled Chant and Chant 2. Very relaxing to listen. Alot of those creepy movies, especially ones in churches use gregorian chant. I don't know if this is what he is searching for, but check it out.

Good luck - the pressure of a song or name eh!

It definitely sounds like something by Enigma. Ask him if there is a French woman talking in it? If so then it is Enigma.
