Why are they name North and South America , When they are not one America?

south America is a continent north America is a Continent. United states is a country on the north American continent. Canada is a country separate from the USA also on the north American Continent also the equator separates north and south America

The definition of a continent is completely arbitrary. It boils down to the argument that a continent is a continent, because at some moment in time earth scientists decided it to be so.
Your are right, North- and South-America are connected, but so are Europe and Asia.
I'm not sure why you bring in Canada, because together with the US and Mexico it forms the North-American continent.
