AHH we'll my man is in Iraq and has been since April, he wont be back til november time, it is hard, all i get is 10 minutes a week on phone, email every few days and a letter maybe once a month. At least you know your partner is safe and you can talk everyday, i cant. I dont know what to say really the first few weeks are the hardest, ive struggled through but he's well worth it, keep yourself busy.We have plans for the future which are keeping me busy so that helps, set yourself goals, like every couple of weeks, i worked for 3 weeks then went away then had a week off and am back at work next week, you'll soon see the weeks flying by.
But seriously think yourself lucky she may be miles away but shes safe you can talk and it wont be long!!! Wish my man was just away not in some god awful **** hole getting shot at

I have currently been in a long distance relationship for 8 months now so yes I do think they can work that is if you communicate with that person because without that you don't have anything

Yes. I am/was dating a dude from Hampshire. I am a Yank.

November IS NOT far away at all. Sometimes I only see this guy once a year...but you get used to it.

As time goes on, and the relationship gets moldier and crustier like bread, you become very used to the distance. It's no big deal in the end, although you may start noticing other girls. It's normal.

I am in a long-distance relationship with my fiance, who is in the armed forces.
be very thankful that you get to speak everyday - we speak once a week if we are lucky!

I don't know that there is anything that can make it easier. A good bunch of friends and a job that keeps you busy helps. I also find making plans for when I next see him helps as it gives me something to look forward to.

not counting down the days. I know it is hard, but if you don't think about it, the time goes (or seems to go) much quicker.

Hope that helps and take care.

I've had a couple of long distance relationships and I know how hard it is. Is she on the internet? Maybe you could communicate through webcams over the web, that way you see her when you are talking to her. The main thing is to keep in contact as often as possible so you are both still fresh in each other's minds.

Yes, i am and have before...u have to be in touch constantly coz long distance relationships are very difficult to keep if there's no communication...try sms'ing daily, phone calls on a regular basis, emails, send photos...and even record some thing for each other...where u talk telling him things u know...that is the only way to keep it burning until u see each other again...without that my dear, it will just die slowly...COMMUNICATION IS THE KEY...AND I MEAN CONSTANT COMMUNICATION...good luck...as long as u both want the same thing..that is the relationship

Not in a relationship right now, but I have been in your situation with my ex being in the forces away on training in other countries. It is hard when you are apart, you are doing all the things you can by writing, texting and phoning, that's all you can do. Send each other pressies and stuff, but it wont take the pain away, not until you are used to the fact that you will always be together.

i was in a long distance relationship for 5 months and we kept in touch every day over the phone and sent videos to each other and letters, after 5 months apart we relised how strong our feelings were,we had been together just over a year before he moved away, and although we knew we loved each other it was only in them 5 months that we relised we wanted to be together forever,so moved to be with him
13 years later and we married for ten years in march and have a wonderful 7 yr old son.
i took a risk and followed my heart, and it paid off for me.
stay in touch reg, txt. email, web cam anything to keep the bond you have, but most of all keep her in your heart and you wont go far wrong.
