Leopard, but not without a fight. The two animals are of comparable size but the leopard is faster and more agile and has the advantage of having claws. The hyaena is more generally robust, has longer jaws which are highly advantageous in a stand up fight and have evolved to fight one another. The hyaena also has more powerful jaws.

Leopard wins 3 out of 4.

RE:
african leopard vs spotted hyena who will win?

In Africa one hyena will frequently track a leopard and after the leopard has killed something it will fight the leopard off the carcass and steal its food. This way it does not need to expend energy hunting and possibly failing.

The smallest injury to a leopard could result in it not being able to hunt and dying and the leopard knows this and will not risk injury. With the hyena back at the clan kills by the group have already been made and it just needs to fight its way in for a share of meat. A slight injury to a hyena is not as life-threatening as it is for a leopard.

African Hyena

Body weight: 105-150 lbs (48-68kg)
Shoulder Height: 72-92cm (28-36 inches)
Length (including head and tail): 1.35-1.88m (53-74 inches)

African Leopard

Leopards (Panthera pardus) are one of the four 'big cats' of the genus Panthera. They range in size from one to just over two metres (6.5 ft) long, and generally weigh between 30 and 70 kg (65 - 155 lb). Some males may grow over 90 kgs (200 lb). Females are typically around two-thirds the size of males. For its size, the leopard is the most powerful feline in the world next to the jaguar.

hyena...leopards avoid hyenas whenever possible. It was once thought that leopards would not hesitate to go after a hyena, but new research shows that leopards are quite wary of hyenas.

leopards are a little smaller and lighter, the hyena is more of a heavyweight fighter, i would say hyena, leopard would have to bite deep on the hyena's thick neck to win fast, hyena has strongest bite force of ANY mammal maybe if hyena is young and smaller than leopard, leopard could win

Leopard. It is faster, stronger, and can climb. Hyena might be smarter, bigger and have stronger jaws but the leopards advantages are more important so the leopard takes this one.🐆

I'm assuming 1on1?
(cos hyenas are pack animals)

but even so...

hyena...

no contest

leopards solitary ambush predators drag their kills up trees immediately so they don't lose it to scavengers usually hyenas, but lions aswell.

leopards are very timid, so would escape up the tree for safety.

hoverer its a different matter when it comes to how beautiful to look at!

hyenas dead ugly!
(and that's no laughing matter! ha-ha-ha)

hyena, definitely. leopards tend to be solitary, while the hyena always travels in a pack...groups of hyenas frequently overpower leopards & steal their kills.
