a high for me would be if he tripped down the steps of No 10 on the way out and broke his neck. For no better reason that he then couldn't earn the millions his got lined up from the speaking tours in the States.
The man has never had this country's best interests at heart. Always at the back of his mind is the money to be made after he steps down.
That has been the driving force and motivation for one of the most disastrous "premierships" this country has ever known.
I can now truly understand the hatred and vitriol that people felt during Margret Thatchers time in office
(gets down off soap box)

It just may happen. It would not take much to win him a vote of approval but he would have to leave very soon before the bubble broke. Politics are very hard to predict most of the time. Every one I know hated Maggie so who voted for her. Same in the USA. Every one you meet seems to hate Bush so how in hell did he get such a big margin the second time. Yes he could just go out on a very big high and not from drugs either. Personally I don't care if he quits or not. I doubt if there is any person that will do any better at this time.

Big leaders have to fall before they can leave the political scene. Otherwise they forever remain in the background, ready to retake control. In other words, when he goes he will have all credibility removed in the same way that Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Regan did.
I don't particularly care whether he ends on a high or a low. However, I expect for someone to take over the role he has to end on a low. That is the way politics works my friend!

The only way Tony Blair's leadership will end on a high is when he sparks up a phat spliff during his final press conference!

I would like to see him regain some integrity and rekindle the sense of optimism that he started his premiership with, before he goes. That obviously involves removing the shackles of Monkey George and his cronies, and sorting out a few 'issues' in the world. My concern is, that if he doesn't do this, it could let the tories back in and, as anyone who experienced the last tory regime knows, it's something to be worried about.

Actually, I'd prefer he resigned quietly so Labour can elect a strong leader to take over and run this country for the first time in years.
And by "strong leader" I don't mean Cameron and the Hooray Henries of the Tory Party, nor Ming and his Lib Dems.

As Monocracy says, there's no chance of that happening without narcotics. He was good for his first term, since then, the whole government has been an embarrasment.
